Merry Noises

"God is gone up with a merry noise!" sings the psalmist in the Episcopal Church's old 1928 Prayer Book. Psalm 47, where this exclamation occurs, is traditionally read each Feast of the Ascension, and its evocation of happy sounds seems a fitting inspiration for the title of the Sunday bulletin inserts in a parish such as ours, where musical tradition and liturgical worship go hand in hand.
