We will spend 8 weeks poring over the wonderful foundational texts that the book of Genesis comprises. No prior knowledge of scripture expected or required. Just bring an inquisitive mind and playful heart.

Clothes Minded
The Ascension Food Pantry is expanding to provide clothing staples several times a year. Our first distribution will be on September 15. Please consider donating new items, in unopened packaging. We are looking for men's socks, T-shirts, and underwear in all sizes (M, L, and XL are most requested), and women's socks and underwear in all sizes. There is a basket at the rear of the church where you can leave these items before or after services on Sundays, or you can contact Kate Monaghan, 718-440-9918, to arrange donations at other times.
A.A. @ Ascension
Monday through Saturday,
7:30 a.m.
and
Thursdays, 11 a.m.
We are happy to welcome two groups of Alcoholics Anonymous to the Church of the Ascension. The daily group is known as Sobriety on the Square (S.O.S.) and has been in the neighborhood for nearly 20 years. They currently meet in the Parish Hall from 7:30 to 8:30, every morning but Sunday. We extend a hearty welcome to them! The group assures us that anyone who may have a problem with alcohol (or other drugs) is welcome to attend. Anonymity is the spiritual foundation of the A.A. program.
The once-weekly group is Grandparents for Sobriety, which meets Thursdays at 11 a.m. in the chapel. It is a small group at present, but they would welcome new members. Anyone interested in joining them, please come to the Parish House at 11 a.m. on Thursdays.
